Author, Founder of Preemie Adventures - Adam Wood
Adam Wood is a retired U.S. Army combat veteran, preemie dad, author of 3 children's NICU books and founder of Preemie Adventures. Adam served in the U.S Army from 1999 to 2019 before retiring to start a family back in his home state of Connecticut. He met his wife Jenn in 2013 and have been married for 7 years. In 2018, his son Brady was born at 25 weeks gestation weighing 1 lb 4 oz. He and his wife spent 135 days in the NICU before coming home on oxygen support, g tube and other medical devices. He has since dedicated his time to advocating for families in the NICU and helping to support them. He uses humor and messages of hope to help families at the various stages of his journey. In 2021, he released the book, "Our Preemie Adventure" as a dedication to his son and to showcase life in the NICU. His signature humorous twist caught the eye of not only parents but healthcare workers as well. The social media personality Dr. Prem Fort A.K.A The NICU Doc read Adam's book and loved the idea of it. Since he has worked with Adam to release two other books in 2022 to support NICU families. Our Respiratory Adventure: A NICU Story helps to not only educate parents from a healthcare perspective but provide the insight of how parents see the NICU experience with fun images. While " A NICU Christmas Adventure" focuses on bringing beautiful messages to families during the holidays. Adam continues to work to uplift parents and provide resources to families worldwide. He especially looks to focus on the role of men in the NICU and at home. Understanding how important they are and the mental well being of dads in these stressful environments.
